The Pirates on Sunday put left-hander Phil Dumatrait on the 15-day disabled list and called up right-handed reliever T.J. Beam from Triple-A Indianapolis. Dumatrait has been bothered by tendinitis in his rotator cuff. He had been slated to start Wednesday against the New York Yankees; Paul Maholm will pitch instead. The Pirates are off Monday, so Dumatrait's absence will not knock the rest of the rotation off its regular routine. The Pirates will have to find someone to start the games Saturday against Tampa Bay and July 4 in Milwaukee. Dumatrait is eligible to come off the DL July 5. In order to get Beam on the 40-man rotation, the Pirates moved outfielder Chris Duffy onto the 60-day DL. Duffy, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, is on a rehab assignment with Double-A Altoona. In 26 games with Indianapolis, Beam went 2-1 with four saves and a 2.03 ERA.
