Car drags Midway officer during struggle

A Midway Borough police officer escaped uninjured after being dragged by a car for more than 50 feet last night in Washington County.

The unnamed officer had approached four people who were loitering at a pavilion in the Midway Borough Park about 10:15 p.m., state police said.

Three people fled to a silver four-door sedan, and the officer tried to stop the fourth person from getting into the car, state police said.

A man began driving the car while the officer struggled with the other man in the back seat of the car, dragging the officer more than 50 feet before the officer was able to get himself out of the car, state police said.

State police are investigating.
