A disbarred attorney from Washington County was arraigned Thursday on charges that he swindled clients out of more than $250,000 and forged the signatures of judges.

James A. Marchewka, 42, of Peters, faces multiple charges in three cases including forgery, tampering with public records and theft, Acting Attorney General Bill Ryan said.

Marchewka is accused of stealing money from a $200,000 estate he was helping administer; failing to give a client a $97,500 accident settlement; forging the names of Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. and Washington County judges Janet Moschetta Bell and Katerine Emery, among others; and accepting pay for legal services after he had been disbarred.
