Media Monday

Here are some of the latest outrageous, sometimes humorous, quotes from or about the liberal media, courtesy of the Media Research Center:

The party of tax cuts & torture: "I wonder ... if the Republican Party really wants to be branded right now as the party of tax cuts and torture• I mean that's what they're selling. I mean tax cuts are always happy to be heard about, even if they're not possible. ... Is this what you want to be known for?"

-- MSNBC's Chris Matthews to Newsweek's Howard Fineman on "Hardball."

Image correction: "Today, cell phone video images emerged of a stern and serious President Obama during a brief encounter with Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez. The image counters the cordial handshake with Chavez, who once called Mr. Obama an 'ignoramus' and George Bush 'a devil.'"

-- ABC News correspondent Martha Raddatz after the media broadcast jovial pictures of Messrs. Obama and Chavez.

Full of beans: "Congratulations, Pensacola (tea-party participants). You got spunk. And when you co-opt the next holiday, Fourth of July, try to adopt a holiday food that does not invite double-entendres, like, you know, franks and beans."

-- Keith Olbermann on MSNBC's "Countdown," using a pejorative to describe tea-party participants.
