Crisis in America: Opportunity knocks
The perversion of our "leaders" has reached its critical mass. And the behavior of these government-knows-best deviants is so despicable that it's difficult to believe it's not some comedy club parody. To wit:
• The imam at the center of the Ground Zero mosque controversy is being sent on a 15-day goodwill tour of the Middle East -- by the U.S. State Department. And American taxpayers are picking up the $16,000 tab for Feisal Abdul Rauf. This is the fella who said America essentially brought upon itself the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. He also refuses to call Hamas the terrorist group that it is.
And this isn't the imam's first tour "to promote religious tolerance." It's his fourth on the public dime.
• Then there's Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell. On Thursday, bristling with an arrogance that is the scion of ignorance, he shilled for not only a new tax on oil company profits but a gasoline tax increase on consumers of 4 cents a gallon that he rationalizes they won't even notice.
The former will contribute to decreased oil production and increased dependence on foreign oil. That latter will contribute to making thinner the already thin margins of every Pennsylvania business and ever tighter the already tight budgets of every Pennsylvania family.
These are but two of scores of examples of pure idiocy being sold as "good public policy." Election Day can't come soon enough. Start turning out the idiocy and its messengers.
