Clairton defense posts shutout

A look at Clairton and Brentwood's records coming into Week 7 might have indicated a showdown was looming.

At this point, though, it has become clear that Clairton is only playing against history.

The Bears, ranked No. 1 in the WPIAL and PIAA, forced turnovers on three of Brentwood's first six plays and cruised to a 52-0 victory Friday.

"They are the best Class A football team I have ever seen," Brentwood coach Kevin Kissel said. "There are no weaknesses on that team. I don't see anyone beating them."

There was a scary moment for the Bears late in the third quarter. Star quarterback/defensive end Desimon Green, a Pitt recruit, was removed from the field in an ambulance after injuring his neck while diving to make a tackle. Green is believed to be fine.

"It was all precautionary," Clairton coach Tom Nola said. "Desi is fine. He was moving everything. We just wanted to be safe."

Josh Page, Green, Brandon Small and Tyler Boyd scored touchdowns before the game was 10 minutes old.

Boyd needed only three carries to rush for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Both of his touchdown runs were of 50 yards.

"I've never seen a Class A team with skill position guys like that," Kissel said.

Brentwood was unable to earn a first down and finished with minus-6 yards.

"I've never seen a game with a team not getting a first down," Kissel said.

The Bears, in fact, did not allow a first down in Washington in Week 1, either.

Clairton has now outscored its opponents by a remarkable 381-12 margin. The Bears have five shutouts.

Brentwood's Cory Bauer entered the game as one of the WPIAL's leading passers. Against the Bears he completed 2 of 16 passes for minus-2 yards and four interceptions.

Before leaving with the injury, Green recorded two sacks and batted down five passes.

Clairton's Devonte Dockery returned and interception for a touchdown, and Karvonn Coles added a score on the ground.

"Unreal," Kissel said. "I've never seen a team like that."
