Major League Baseball

MLB -- Suspended Cincinnati manager Dusty Baker for two games for making contact with an umpire, N.Y. Yankees manager Joe Girardi for one game for kicking dirt at an umpire and San Diego hitting coach Wally Joyner for one game for coming on the field to argue with an umpire and fined them.

American League

BALTIMORE ORIOLES -- Activated RHP Rocky Cherry from the 15-day DL and optioned him to Norfolk (IL).

CHICAGO WHITE SOX -- Placed INF Juan Uribe on the 15-day DL, retroactive to May 16. Purchased the contract of OF DeWayne Wise from Charlotte (IL).

CLEVELAND INDIANS -- Activated RHP Joe Borowski from the 15-day DL. Designated LHP Craig Breslow for assignment.

National League

ATLANTA BRAVES -- Agreed to terms with Bobby Cox, manager, on a one-year contract extension through the 2009 season. Activated C Brayan Pena from the 15-day DL and designated him for assignment.

MILWAUKEE BREWERS -- Placed RHP Eric Gagne on the 15-day DL, retroactive to May 21. Recalled RHP Tim Dillard from Nashville (PCL).

WASHINGTON NATIONALS -- Optioned LHP Matt Chico and RHP Chris Schroder to Columbus (IL). Purchased the contracts of OF Ryan Langerhans, LHP Charlie Manning and RHP Brian Sanches from Columbus. Transferred RHP Ryan Wagner from the 15- to the 60-day DL.

Southern League

CAROLINA MUDCATS -- Added C Alberto Concepcion from Albuquerque (PCL).

WICHITA WINGNUTS -- Released RHP Dan Caldwell.

QUEBEC CAPITALES -- Signed RHP Mark James.
