'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. An April 2 concert by the U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants in Oakland has been canceled because of cost-cutting by the Department of Defense.

The two groups were scheduled to perform at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum, but all Air Force units have ended their tours in because of the federal sequestration.

The visit here would have been part of an eight-state tour.
