Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, 10:49 p.m.

Jay Z commanded a monarchial performance of hits during the Pittsburgh stop on his Magna Carter World Tour at Consol Energy Center on Tuesday night.

Although the arena was only half full, the crowd was on their feet with arms in the air for the opening track “U Don't Know.”

Headlining his first solo tour in four years, Jay Z (Shawn Corey Carter, 44) was joined on stage only by a four-piece band featuring keys, guitar, drums and Timbaland at the turntables.

The star was promoting his 12th studio album released in July. “Magna Carta ... Holy Grail” is up for nine nominations at the Grammy Awards, where Jay Z will perform Jan. 26 at Los Angeles' Staples Center.
