The Rep has two premieres for upcoming season
The Rep, Point Park University's professional theater company, will present two world premieres by Pittsburgh playwrights during its 2014-15 season.
The season, which runs from Sept. 4 to April 12, 2015, opens with the classic “Of Mice and Men” by Nobel Prize winner John Steinbeck. Acclaimed Hollywood producer, director and screenwriter Robert A. Miller will direct the play about two migrant workers and their dream of settling down one day. It runs from Sept. 4 to 21.
The season's other shows include:
• “Souvenir,” Sept. 25 to Oct. 12. The play recounts the life of Florence Foster Jenkins, an eccentric wealthy socialite who believed she was a great soprano when, in fact, her voice made people cringe. Despite this, fans flocked to her shows.
• “Prussia: 1886,” Feb. 5 to 22, 2015. This world premiere by Pittsburgh comedian Gab Cody is a farce about philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and his proto-feminist friends.
• “Endless Lawns,” March 26 to April 12, 2015. Carnegie Mellon University professor Anthony McKay wrote this world-premiere play about two sisters and the men who love and care for them.
Season subscriptions are available for $64 to $72. Single tickets, ranging from $24 to $27, will go on sale Aug. 4.
