Former Giant Eagle to become Cochran service center

By Pittsburgh The Tribune-Review
Thursday, March 1, 2012

A vacant former Giant Eagle supermarket in Castle Shannon will become a new service and collision center for #1 Cochran automotive with 50 new employees expected to be hired.

The site was purchased by Cochran R.E., L.P., for $1 million from RCV LLC whose managing partner was listed as Rick S. Vasko on to a deed filed in Allegheny County.

Vasko was the franchise owner and operator of the store, which closed in August 2009. It had 75 employees who were offered positions at nearby Giant Eagle stores. The building, containing up to 50,000 square feet of space and located on a 4.6 acre-site along Sleepy Hollow Road, will be modeled after the Cochran collision/service center on Haymaker Road in Monroeville, said CEO Rob Cochran.

"Our goal is to provide a facility to meet the needs of our South Hills dealerships on West Liberty Avenue, to ease the traffic conditions and stress clients now face when bringing their cars to these locations for service," he said. Cochran said he hopes to have the center open in the summer.
