A number of gas stations in the Pittsburgh region are in the process of converting to the Marathon brand.

Many of the stations, owned by Wheeling, W.Va.-based Tri-State Petroleum Corp., were previously Exxon-branded stations.

Tri-State, a petroleum fuels distributor, said its 18 gas stations in the region are moving to the Marathon brand, part of a change the company is making across its full chain of 50 stores in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Marathon Petroleum Co. LP is based in Findlay, Ohio, and is the nation's fifth largest oil refiner.

The conversion of Tri-State's stations is expected to be complete by mid-summer, Tri-State CEO Colleen McGlinn said.

Operating under the Marathon brand will allow Tri-State's stores to offer customer loyalty discount programs, McGlinn. It will begin a discount program July 1 at its Oakdale store, McGlinn said.
