El Burro, Pittsburgh's newest taco and burrito restaurant, has opened at 1108 Federal St. on the North Side, joining established businesses such as Crazy Mocha, the Deli on North and Steve's New York Hotdog Shop.

El Burro is a collaboration between Wes DeRenouard and Derek Burnell of Lawrenceville's Round Corner Cantina.

All the restaurants are part of a series of projects that include the Garden Theater block and the restoration of the Allegheny Commons, according to Barbara Talerico, president of the Central Northside Neighborhood Council. Other restaurants also scheduled to open in the block are Nakama's Japanese steakhouse and II Giardini.
