Butler County commissioners have settled the final lawsuits related to construction of the Butler County Prison.

Commissioners on Wednesday agreed to pay Enders Plumbing and Heating $130,000, and Clista Electric of Pittsburgh $230,000. Travelers Casualty & Surety Company of America, which bonded the project, also will pay each contractor $15,000, according to Thomas King, who represented the county as special counsel in the lawsuits.

Both contractors sued after the first general contractor, A.G. Cullen Construction in Pittsburgh, walked off the job in 2007. The firm was replaced by Rycon Construction of Pittsburgh months later, and Enders and Clista returned to work. Both sued, seeking damages for the time they were off the job. Enders sought $900,000 in damages, and Clista $1.2 million.

Cullen also sued the county, and Travelers sued Cullen, but those cases were settled in 2010. The $44 million, 564-bed jail opened in 2009.
