Jeannette Police have obtained an arrest warrant for a 28-year-old man who is accused of assaulting his girlfriend and then fleeing while he was being treated at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg.

Michael J. Perry III of South Third Street, Jeannette, is wanted on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, public drunkenness, reckless endangerment and escape, according to a warrant signed by District Judge Joseph DeMarchis.

Officer Elliott Fejes reported that police were summoned to an apartment about 7:36 p.m. on Oct. 31 by a woman who alleged that a drunken Perry had just assaulted her. The woman required treatment at the Greensburg hospital for her injuries, according to police.

After a brief search, police found Perry walking in a nearby alley. He attempted to flee but was caught hiding between two buildings near Clay Avenue.

While Perry was being processed at the police station, he claimed he felt dizzy and needed medical treatment for a cut. Jeannette Emergency Medical Service took Perry to the hospital. Police planned to take him to the county jail after he was treated.

At about 1 a.m. on Nov. 1, an emergency room employee contacted police “to advise Michael Perry did rip out his IV from his arm and was seen running out of the emergency room,” Fejes said in a report.

Anyone with information on Perry's whereabouts is asked to telephone police at 724-527-4013.
