Noteworthy: Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl honored Hamer-Kropf with a proclamation for her volunteer work in Sheraden. She's organized town meetings to address crime and blight, arranged community cleanup efforts and annual Halloween and Christmas parades for children, among other things.

Age: 53

Family: Four sons, Robert, Edward, Christopher and David; and three daughters, Becky, Amanda and Dyana.

Occupation: Patient assistant at Green Tree Medical Associates.

Background: President of the Sheraden Community Council and a member of the West End Alliance. She's served as a Democratic committeewoman in Sheraden for 12 years.

Education: Graduated from the former Langley High School in Sheraden in 1977.

Quote: “It's nice to know the city of Pittsburgh, City Council and the mayor do recognize the work and the volunteer hours that a lot of us put in every day. There's always something that needs to be done every day to keep up with what's going on in the community.”
