East Huntingdon supervisors this week adopted a $5,126,775 balanced budget for 2013, with no tax increase for property owners.

After allowing the tentative spending plan to sit for 30 days for public inspection, supervisors approved the resolution that will set the millage rate at 2.25 mills for general purposes.

“We haven't changed that for over 40 years,” Supervisor Joel Suter said of the millage.

Supervisors also passed a resolution setting the tax rate of 25 mills for debt purposes.

In preparation for winter, supervisors reported they are in the process of getting all road trucks ready.

“We're doing any needed maintenance,” Supervisor Paul Hodgkiss said.

Any tires that were needed have been replaced, and all ashers are now in place on the maintenance vehicles, he said.

In addition, supervisors are completing snow fence installation and small road projects.

“We're working on a few bridge repairs and digging a few ditches,” Suter said. “We are getting ready for winter.”
