Another high-ranking Allegheny County official will no longer be one of Executive Rich Fitzgerald's top leaders.

Fitzgerald's spokeswoman announced on Friday that Timothy Johnson, director of administrative services, tendered his resignation, effective Dec. 3. He will become director of the Allegheny County Retirement Board. The position is vacant.

The resignation marks the 12th high-ranking county official to leave a cabinet position in the administration or to be fired since Fitzgerald took office in January.

Jerry Tyskiewicz, manager of fiscal affairs for county courts, will replace Johnson. Tyskiewicz will make the same salary as Johnson did — $98,345 — and start Dec. 3. Johnson could not be reached for comment, and his new salary could not be immediately determined.

The move happens a week after Fitzgerald fired Assessments Manager Michael Suley, 63. Johnson was Suley's boss.

Asked to comment, Fitzgerald said, “I don't get into personnel matters.”

Former Executive Dan Onorato hired Johnson in January 2004.

Fitzgerald has said numerous times that he is in the midst of a top-to-bottom review of county government. He fired Public Works Director Joe Olczak on Oct. 31, replacing him with Deputy Director Phil LaMay on an interim basis.
