New Pittsburgh Courier honors 50 Women of Excellence

Sunday, June 23, 2013, 9:00 p.m.

“They're all in a unique class unto themselves. When you think about the fact that you can find so many women of such achievements ... says quite a lot about our city, doesn't it?” observed New Pittsburgh Courier editor and publisher Rod Doss.

A private reception at the Omni William Penn afforded the 50 Women of Excellence nominees — including Charlotte Brown, Tracy Clark, Pamela Collier, Robyn Greer, Kim El, Staycee Pearl, Carol Washington, Kilolo Luckett, Gayle Young and Denise Williams — time to enjoy a moment or two before the ballroom swelled to 450 friends and supporters.

Now in it's sixth year, the luncheon also honored longtime television and radio personality Bev Smith with the Legacy Award.

“It's an honor to be amongst these wonderful women. It's like, ‘Wow!' ” offered Desiree S. Lee.
