The lure of a post-Thanksgiving hibernation did nothing to prevent VIPs of the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater in East Liberty from getting together Nov. 30 for some mixers and mingling.

Raising a glass for The Suite Life, the event served as buildup for two major milestones for the storied theater: its 100th anniversary in 2014 and, in 2015, the 100th birthday of Billy Strayhorn.

Proceeds benefited the Strayhorn Legacy Fund, which supports arts-education activities for youth in the East End.

Attending were Vivian and Bill Benter, KST director Janera Solomon, Gail Carter with Darryl Strayhorn and her mother Annie Carter, James Gourlay and Leah Havas, and Matt and Valdone Arffa.
