Flash!: Lucky's Dog Festival; Regatta VIP party

John Altdorfer - LUCKY DOG! Gridlock on the 24th block of East Carson Street, for once, had nothing to do with vehicular congestion, as Lucky’s South Side Dog Festival brought owners and their fuzz heads en masse to the Double Wide Grill. The Animal Rescue League Shelter and Wildlife Center were on hand with several pets looking for their forever homes, while stage moms and dads encouraged best behavior during several talent shows. Now in its second year, the free event also celebrated the restaurant's status as the first business in Allegheny County to provide a designated dog section that adheres to health codes. Those residing in the Cranberry area can mark their calendars for a Lucky’s Dog Festival on July 20 at the Double Wide Grill in the Adams Shoppes on Route 228. Pictured is Matthew Cornwall with Bonecrusher, an English and Italian mastiff mix.

'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.
