Foodies gather at Stage AE to Savor Pittsburgh
With more than 20 participating restaurants, the only thing standing in the way of asking for seconds during Savor Pittsburgh was the presence of 1,500 like-minded individuals.
“We're lucky. People really embrace the cause,” said Christina Dickerson.
Benefitting Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation, the annual taste test welcomed a sold-out crowd to Stage AE on Aug. 21 that included Scott Lammie, David andGina Pferdehirt, Diane Holder, Bruce and Debbie Horvitz, Mike andDebbie Barbarita, and Leslie Davis and Abe Leizerowski. While No Bad Ju Ju occupied the stage, the eat, drink and be merry was being dished out both inside and on the lawn, allowing for optimal crowd-surfing and far too much temptation.
Now in its ninth year, foundersMichelle and Ricky Kirsop (executive chef for McCormick & Schmick's on the South Side) conceived the idea after moving here from Philadelphia in an effort to unite the community with cuisine.
“It's amazing to see how it's grown,” she said.
Amongthe awards: Braddock's Restaurant snagged the People's Choice while Seviche's Pastrami Duck Taco was crowned Dish of the Year.
The evening raised $100K.
