Suit care

People Style Watch shares swimsuit-care tips by Ilene Sofferman of Canyon Beachwear:

Clean gently: “Wash your suits by hand in cold water with a mild detergent made for swimwear. Avoid the washer, as it can pull and stretch suits.”

Dry flat in a cool place: “A hot dryer will break down the materials. So will leaving it in the sun. Instead, rinse your suit and lay it to dry indoors.”

Alternate your suits: “Spandex needs 24 hours to retain its shape. By wearing a suit every other day, you allow it to return to normal and reduce stretching.”

Watch where you sit: “Avoid cement and other rough surfaces that can pill or tear your suit, and always put down a towel or coverup.”

Wear old suits in the hot tub: “The hot water and heavy chemicals weaken spandex and will make colors fade.”
