It was standing room only under the 40-foot-by-100-foot tent at Tanger Outlets.

Close to 300 people came to look -- the shopping came later. The Washington County outlets hosted a second annual “Pink Partini & Fashion Bash” on Sept. 26

Models strutted along the pink-carpeted runway in a show moved from casual to glitz and glam. Eleven models featured 35 outfits from 12 stores. Shops included Ann Taylor Factory Store, Loft Outlet, Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, Banana Republic Factory Store, Under Armour, Tommy Hilfiger, New York & Company, Van Heusen, Talbots, Dress Barn, Levi's Outlet, and Brooks Brothers Factory Store.

The show was geared toward the latest in fall fashions. Trends included vibrant colors such as reds, purples and blues.

Black and white, which is huge for fall, was shown in a polka dot skirt.

There was lots of denim, from jeans to jackets. Outerwear included stylish trench coats, fluffy furs and cashmere blazers. The pencil skirt is very much on trend as is the stretch trouser as an alternative to the skinny jean.

Cable knit cardigans in bold hues and statement items — such as a bright yellow jacket and lots of big piece of jewelry — were highlighted on the runway. And we can't forget the shoes, from red pumps to black patent leather stilettos.

We saw a touch of animal print, which is always in style, especially leopard. There were lots or prints from geometric to floral.

Tanger's general manager Jodi Dague was pleased with the turnout and said working with Pittsburgh Fashion Week is a great partnership. They used a new setup for the seating with chairs on either side of the runway and added televisions so everyone could see.

“I think people really get to see great fashion here and they might see an outfit they didn't think they could put together at an outlet mall,” Dague said. “But it is all here. We have something for everyone.”

The event benefited the American Cancer Society. Dague said she likes to include people with connections to the Cancer Society. One of the models was Janet Sanjur of Canonsburg, who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

“I decided to just walk the runway and whatever happened, happened,” said Sanjur, who wore outfits from Dress Barn. “It was fun. And I think it was good to see all those people out there supporting cancer, all types of cancer, not just breast cancer.”

Stylist Nicole Widdowson said she knows when she does her job correctly by the way the audience responds.

“When you hear the crowd get into it, that is when you know the show is a success,” said Widdowson. “I think we had a nice combination of stores and the models did a great job.”

It was a much different scene from last year's torrential downpour and high winds, which nearly tore down the tent. The show did go on, but this year the weather was picture perfect — just like the models.

“This year's show was absolutely fabulous,” said Miyoshi Anderson, fashion week executive director. “I loved all of the looks and how Nicole styled them all. I talked to people who were here last year and they remember the rain. … But they also remembered how great the fashions look and that is what brings people back.”
