Fashion FYI: are and retired authentic Sabika jewelry on sale

Rare and retired authentic Sabika jewelry will be available to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 20 at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry and 4 to 8 p.m. June 22, 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. June 23 and 24 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 25 at the Hilton Garden Inn Southpointe.

This once-a-year event is the only opportunity to purchase this line without attending a private trunk show. Most of the collection features Swarovski crystals and has been handcrafted in Europe by women using centuries-old techniques.

While registration is not required, it is recommended. If you register, you will have preferred access to the shopping window of your choice and receive a $15 merchandise credit upon the purchase of your $5 online registration fee.


Showcase Noir

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is hosting Showcase Noir: African American Artist & Designer Market from noon to 8 p.m. June 21 and 22 at Penn Avenue and Eighth Street, Downtown. It's a showcase featuring artworks available for purchase by some of the region's finest African-American artists, including potters, watercolor artists, fine jewelry designers and sculptors. The event is free and is part of Pittsburgh JazzLive International.

Happy anniversary

As part of its 30th anniversary, Maxalto at 5426 12 Walnut St., Shadyside, is having a Heyne & Bogut trunk show from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 20 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 21 and a Jennifer Jones trunk show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 27 and 28. Heyne & Bogut is known for pushing the edge of contemporary fashion with functional, sophisticated pieces that travel seamlessly between formal and casual. Jones creates handmade, limited-edition and one-of-a-kind jewelry using ancient techniques of granulation, fusing and carving.

RAW: Pittsburgh is hosting its third showcase of 2014, titled Panorama, from 7 p.m. to midnight June 26 at Club Zoo, 1630 Smallman St., Strip District. The event will feature 40-plus artists in visual art, film, fashion, music, hair and makeup artistry, photography and performing arts. It is an independent arts organization that hand-selects and spotlights artists and provides them the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity. Three fashion designers — Layla Lawless, Bill Earl and Boots Printing Co. — will be featured in a runway show. Tickets are $20, $15 in advance.

Garment soiree

One woman's trash will become another woman's treasure at designer/seamstress Jen Rocket's Garment Soiree from 1 to 6 p.m. June 21 at Rocket's studio at 5620 Callowhill St., Highland Park. Shop stylish collections as well as swap your nice-condition clothing, jewelry, handbags, shoes, books and pop-culture items. Bring items with you that can be swapped or donated to Dress for Success Pittsburgh. The event is free.

Marriage equality

The Celebrate Marriage Equality Wedding Showcase is 6 to 9 p.m. June 26 and is sponsored by the Senator John Heinz History Center in the Strip District and Erin Calvimontes of Divine Celebrations. The showcase features the best wedding vendors in the Pittsburgh area and all participating vendors have been interviewed and found to be lesbian-, gay-, bisexual- and transgender-friendly. There will be vendors for everything from florists to photographers for caterers. Tickets are $5.
