Munhall bus stop voted second worst in America
A website's voters have named a Port Authority bus stop in Munhall as the second worst in America.
The stop is wedged between the busy East Eighth Street, near Hilltop Street, and a steep hill leading to railroad tracks.
Streetsblog USA, a national transit blog, hosts the America's Sorriest Bus Stop Tournament annually. It's a bracket-style competition that lets voters choose the worst bus stop in the country.
The Munhall stop beat out stops in Indianapolis, Omaha, Neb., and Englewood, N.J.
Ultimately, though, a bus stop in Seattle, which is also stationed between a high-speed roadway and railroad tracks, beat out Munhall for the worst bus stop in the country.
The Munhall bus stop got 43 percent of the vote, with 476, while the Seattle bus stop got 57 percent, at 634.
“Port Authority is always looking to improve the safety and accessibility of our bus stops and stations with the limited resources at our disposal,” spokesman Adam Brandolph said in an email.
