The Federal Reserve Board has picked Pittsburgh businesswoman Dawne S. Hickton as the new chairwoman of the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank.

Hickton is the president and a founding partner of Cumberland Highstreet Partners, a Sewickley business consulting firm. She has been a director of the Cleveland bank since 2012.

Hickton succeeds the current chair, John P. Surma, the retired chairman and CEO of U.S. Steel Corp.

She was the president and CEO of RTI International Metals from 2007 until Alcoa Inc. bought the Moon-based titanium manufacturer in 2015 for $1.5 billion.

She and her husband, former U.S. Attorney David Hickton, have six children.
