Comast adds 71 WiFi hotspots in Monroeville
Comcast announced Tuesday that 71 locations throughout Monroeville now have wireless internet.
Access points include several businesses along Northern Pike, Route 286, Monroeville Boulevard, Old William Penn Highway and Haymaker Road.
According to a press release, Comcast is the state's largest WiFi provider and expects to reach 5,200 hotspots in its Keystone Region by the end of the year. The region covers western, central and northeastern Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, northern West Virginia and the Maryland panhandle.
The new hotspots are near a number of sites, includ Quality Automotive Service and Megan's Loft on Golden Mile Highway, the Monroeville Post Office and the First Baptist Church along Monroeville Boulevard, along Old William Penn Highway near William Penn Village, the Dog Stop and American Legion Post 820, and along Haymaker Road near Forbes Hospital, St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church and Monroeville Business Park.
To access the wireless internet, customers need to select “xfinitywifi” from the list of available networks on their laptops or mobile devices and enter their Comcast username and password, the release says.
“As we continue to invest in our WiFi network, we are bringing residents in Monroeville new levels of connectivity and convenience,” said Christine Whitaker, senior vice president of Comcast's Keystone Region.
