Devil's in the details for return of Plum police K-9 unit
Residents who have been pushing Plum to restore its police K-9 program will have to wait at least until December to see the fruits of their labor.
Council was expected Monday to reinstate the program it had decided to eliminate at the end of the year. But details — such as what will be expected of K-9 Officer Lee Temple and his dog — are still being worked out.
“In the course of finalizing policy, we decided we needed a job description,” said councilman and personnel committee chairman, Dave Seitz.
Seitz said the policy will give the police chief more flexibility when it comes to job assignments and scheduling of the K-9 officer.
Police Chief Jeff Armstrong and council members would not discuss what other details need to be hammered out before the program is put back in place.
Council's next voting meeting is 7 p.m. Dec. 11 at the borough building, 4575 New Texas Road.
