Two more charged in Greensburg sex sting
Two more men are charged with alleged involvement in illicit sexual conduct at Greensburg's Eastmont Estates apartments.
City police charged Scott Allen Shadle, 34, with three counts related to promotion of prostitution and David Allan Smith, 47, with indecent assault of a child under age 13, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.
The men were listed as residing at separate addresses at the Eastmont apartments, but Shadle told Greensburg District Judge James Albert he considers himself homeless and was staying temporarily with his brother at the housing complex.
As Westmoreland County Sheriff's deputies took them to the county prison, Shadle told the Tribune-Review he isn't guilty of the charges, while Smith declined comment. Each was jailed after failing to post $75,000 bail.
The charges against Shadle stem from incidents between June 5 and July 12, police said. In court documents, Detective Sgt. John Swank said text messages revealed Shadle had posted online ads charging payment for sex with Rebecca Shadle, 38, whom police said is Shadle's wife.
Swank said the texts included discussions of how much money to charge for sex, how much of the proceeds Rebecca Shadle would turn over to her husband and of another woman who was “making money for him.”
When Rebecca Shadle threatened to cut off the money, Scott Shadle texted “that he would file divorce papers and call her caseworker,” the court documents state.
Rebecca Shadle is charged with trafficking of a minor, aggravated indecent assault of a child, sexual exploitation of children, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children for allegedly accepting payment from men to allow them to inappropriately touch a 7-year-old girl at her Eastmont Estates apartment.
Brian Keith Spillar, 49, of Ligonier allegedly paid Rebecca Shadle $60 to have sexual contact with the girl, according to court documents.
Spillar said at his earlier arraignment that he will fight the charges against him. According to Swank, Spillar told police the child enticed him while he was under the influence of alcohol.
Swank said Smith altered his story when interviewed by police before allegedly admitting he touched the girl's breasts and genitals when she was at his apartment at times between Jan. 1, 2013, and Jan. 1, 2017.
Smith and Scott Shadle are set to appear Aug. 3 for hearings before Albert. Spillar and Rebecca Shadle, who also were jailed, face hearings on Thursday.
