Greensburg police collecting supplies, cash for Hurricane Harvey relief
Two Greensburg police officers will be taking a trip to Houston, Texas, next week with a trailer full of supplies to help the region recover after Hurricane Harvey.
Officers Kerry Dieter and Elliot Fejes have been collecting donated supplies and will continue to do so until their departure Sept. 21.
The officers also set up a GoFundMe page to raise cash donations to cover travel costs. Any money raised in excess of the travel expenses will be donated to the relief effort, according to the department.
Officers have been in contact with the Sugarland Police Department in Texas to learn what kind of supplies are needed. Cleaning supplies such as bleach and detergent are top priorities, as are prepackaged snacks.
The department will be collecting supply donations from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Greensburg police station on South Main Street.

An earlier version of this story said the police department set up the GoFundMe page, instead of the officers.
