PennDOT to show plans for ramp work at Toll Route 66, Route 119

The state will display plans Wednesday in New Stanton for work it expects to start this fall on PennDOT-maintained ramps at the intersection of Toll Route 66, Route 119 and State Route 3019, known as the New Stanton-Youngwood Road.

PennDOT officials are expected to explain the project during a presentation planned for 4 p.m. Wednesday at the New Stanton Borough Building, 318 Paintersville Road. The plans for the project will be on display from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Highway lights installed in the 1970s, along Route 119 and the two outermost ramps on southern side of the interchange, will be replaced, PennDOT said. No work is proposed on the existing high mast lighting owned by the Pennsylvania Turnpike as part of Toll 66 Interchange.

Concrete pavement will be replaced and some minor deck repairs will be made on ramps from New Stanton to Route 119 south towards Connellsville and the northbound ramp on the expressway portion of Route 119 to northbound Route 119 towards Youngwood.

Concrete patching and other roadway repairs are proposed for Route 119 from the bridge spanning Sewickley Creek to the structures spanning the New Stanton-Youngwood Road. Work also is planned for the Route 119 northbound ramp from Connellsville to the New Stanton-Youngwood Road, and westbound from that road to Route 119 south

PennDOT officials will explain the project and the detours it proposes to complete the work on three of the four ramps set for repairs. The state expects to open bids in August and start construction this fall. The project is to be completed next year.
