Some Pirates fans this week were surprised to receive postseason tickets in the mail that were meant for someone else. The club immediately began voiding the tickets, printing new ones and sending them via express mail.

“We are aware of this problem,” the team said in statement Thursday. “It was an isolated incident that affected a very small percentage of accounts.”

Pirates spokesman Brian Warecki said the issue affected “about 50 of the thousands of orders.” He added that all problems would be resolved in time for Tuesday's potential wild-card game at PNC Park.

In the statement, the Pirates said a mistake was made by personnel in the Tickets.com distribution center in Texas.

“We worked with Tickets.com and the distribution center to trace the origin of the issue and the small number of accounts affected,” the team said.

The statement added, “While we believe Tickets.com and the distribution center have identified all of the accounts affected, we encourage all ticket holders to double check their tickets and make their Pirates ticket representative aware of any questions they may have.”
