VERONA — A borough youth will have to apologize to council after he admitted to an act of vandalism, officials say.

Officials say a Verona boy caused $300 worth of damage after punching a Plexiglas window at Cribbs Field about a month ago.

The Plexiglas window encased a bulletin board that belongs to local Cub Scouts.

According to borough officials, the youth admitted to breaking the window. Officials did not identify him.

He was given the option of apologizing to council at one of its public meetings, rather than be charged with vandalism.

“I'm not here to humiliate the kid or nothing,” Mayor David Ricupero said. “I just want to teach him a little respect.”

Ricupero said the boy doesn't have a prior record.

“We've all done stupid things,” Ricupero said. “He just got caught.”
