Police in Allegheny County were on the lookout for a driver who they accuse of trying to run over a Pitcairn officer with an SUV on Sunday afternoon.
The vehicle was described as a silver Dodge Durango with a possible license plate of JCB3522.
Police accuse the driver of trying to strike the officer in the 500 block of Second Street at about 4:45 p.m. The vehicle missed officer Scott Farally, who fired his handgun and struck the vehicle at least once.
On Monday, Pitcairn police Chief Dennis Hockenberry said a person involved in the incident had turned himself in.
Hockenberry did not explain the person's role in the incident but said police had been searching for the same individual Sunday — prior to the run-in — after he was accused of shooting someone with a pellet gun on Third Street.
