Upper St. Clair commissioners approved a development and made it easier for the township to pursue another, officials said.

At their meeting on Monday night, commissioners gave final subdivision approval to create a seven-lot cul-de-sac off Morrow Road, near Englewood and Hidden Timber drives, said Commission President Robert Orchowski.

Each lot would be one acre or larger, Orchowski said. Commission and municipal staff had questioned whether the cul-de-sac would have sufficient stormwater control and good lines of sight where it intersected with Morrow Road. The developer appeared to have addressed those questions, he said.

The commission also approved transferring a small lot along Route 19 from the volunteer fire department to the township.

The Upper St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department and Relief Association owns the 0.4-acre parcel immediately south of its building. The building is on township-owned land.

Transferring the property to the township will make it easier if officials ever expand the fire department building or relocate the police department from the McLaughlin Run Road complex shared by the township, school district, and the public library, Orchowski said.
