Army Cadet Tiara O. Brown received the George C. Marshall Award during a ceremony at the Marshall Center, Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va. The daughter of Nichelle Downing and stepdaughter of Eugene Downing, she is a 2007 graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School.
Returning to the U.S. after being deployed overseas at a forward operating base to serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom: Army Capt. William J. Buchleitner IV, son of Diane Ninness of Pittsburgh and William Buchleitner III of Texarkana, Texas, and a 1997 graduate of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School; Army Staff Sgt. Gregory E. Archey, son of Evelyn Archey of Pittsburgh, and a 1987 graduate of North Allegheny Senior High School; Army Spec. Ryan M. Covol, son of Amanda and Jeff Covol of Pittsburgh, and a 2008 graduate of Plum Borough High School; and Army Spec. Bryan D. Marsh, son of Bruce Marsh of Pittsburgh and Debra Nichols of New Kensington, and a 2007 graduate of Penn Hills Senior High School.
Graduating from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio: Air Force Airman 1st Class Mario J. Lopez, son of Maggie Valenzuela of Pittsburgh and a 2012 graduate of Keystone Oaks High School; Air Force Airman Thet N. Tun, son of Kyaw Shwe of Canonsburg, and a 2008 graduate of Gateway High School; and Air Force Airman John M. Reinford, son of Michele Smith of Summit Point, W.Va., and John Reinford of Pittsburgh, and a 2010 graduate of Washington High School in Charles Town, W.Va.
Army National Guard Pvt. Sharimae M. Hill graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. The daughter of Maileen Hill of Puyallup, Wash., she is a 2011 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School.
Marine Corps Pvt. Heather J. Trapp earned the title of Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. The daughter of Jodie L. Gamble of Pittsburgh and Michael D. Trapp of Valencia, she is a 2012 graduate of Mars Area High School.
