North Hills Senior High School senior Nathan Spear, 17, was recently named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist.

School: Senior at North Hills High School

Family: Mother, Meg; father, Sam; brothers: Elliot, 20, Byron, 13, Emerson, 11, Daniel, 9; sisters Elsa, 18, Ingrid, 15, Annika, 5, Greta, 2.

Noteworthy: Spear, involved with several North Hills organizations, was named a National Merit Scholarship finalist and is an AP Scholar with Distinction.

Hobbies/Interests: Marching band, wind ensemble, jazz band, symphonic choir, NH Singers, drama club, volleyball, National Honor Society.

Quote: “I am really blessed to receive this award,” he said of the National Merit Scholarshop honor. “This program has meant so much to so many people, and it's an honor to be recognized with them.”
