Mt. Lebanon to issue art grants

The nonprofit Mt. Lebanon Partnership has started an initiative to promote art and announced grants to two adult and two youth winners.

Proceeds from the 2013 Plein Air Mt. Lebanon arts event were used to establish a $3,000 grant pool. The winners are:

• Sandra Ward, who will make mixed-media works to reflect ancestors' stories, $1,000 award.

• Chris Rohrbach, who crafted a “happy crab” diagram that he uses to tell stories, $984.

• Nora Vaughn, 10th grade, who will design a mixed-media painting based on observations from a church trip to Malawi, Africa, $280.

• Kathryn Mellett, 11th grade, who will film the Artists Market in October in Mt. Lebanon, $750. The 2014 Plein Air event is set for Oct. 5 to 12.
