High school roundup: Riverview boys soccer team shocks Vincentian

Riverview's boys soccer team jumped out to a three-goal lead and held on to upset Class A No. 3 Vincentian, 3-2, on Tuesday in McCandless.
It was the first win for the Raiders (11-5, 7-2 Section 2-A) against the Royals (9-2, 7-2) since 2010.
Raiders goalkeeper Sam Gonsowski made 13 saves for the Raiders, who posted their seventh straight win. The victory sets up a showdown between Riverview and No. 4 Springdale (11-3, 8-1), on Thursday. If the Raiders win, they will clinch a share of the section.
All three Riverview goals were set up by midfielder Cole Quinio. Dom DiDomenico, Josh Killian and Christian Snyder all scored.
Valley 3, East Allegheny 0 — Valley (9-4-2, 8-1-2) broke a three-game losing streak with a victory over East Allegheny (5-8-1, 3-8-1) in Section 1-AA.
Knoch 2, Shady Side Academy 1 (OT) — Knoch (7-7-1, 7-2-1) grabbed possession of second place with a Section 2-AA win over Shady Side Academy (9-4, 7-3).
Kiski Area 5, Latrobe 1 — Kiski Area (10-2-2, 8-1-1) had four different goal scorers en route to a Section 1-AAA win over Latrobe (5-10-1, 2-8-1).
Freeport is headed back to the WPIAL team finals for the first time since 1994 after finishing second at the Class AA semifinal tournament at Indian Run Golf Course. Freeport posted a 418, one stroke behind Burgettstown.
Freeport was led by senior Robbie Miller and freshman Audrey Clawson, who matched rounds of 79. The top three teams advanced to the finals, set for Thursday at Cedarbrook Golf Course. Burrell finished fourth at 432.
Kittanning finished fourth at the semifinal at Donegal Highlands. Kiski Area came in fourth, 10 shots out of third, at the Class AAA semifinal at Butler's Golf Course.
Fox Chapel 3, North Allegheny 1 — In Section 3-AAA, Fox Chapel upset North Allegheny, ranked No. 10 in Class AAA by Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association. Fox Chapel (10-3, 7-3) has won nine straight.
Girls cross country
Freeport's girls team posted its 24th straight section win and secured back-to-back section titles with a sweep of West Shamokin and Riverview.
Kayla Zboran ran the top individual time of 20:44 for Freeport (7-0, 7-0).
Three of the four Alle-Kiski qualifiers will open the WPIAL team tennis playoffs on the road. Burrell plays at Ellis School, while Valley travels to Greensburg Central Catholc in Class AA. Both matches are at 3 p.m. Monday.
Springdale, meantime, plays a preliminary-round match 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Pleasant.
In Class AAA, Fox Chapel hosts Oakland Catholic at 3 p.m. Thursday.
