A Vandergrift man allegedly admitted to police that he raped his ex-girlfriend on Thursday night.

Borough police charged Adam Corey McKendree, 29, of 212 Holmes St. with rape, sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault.

He was arraigned on Friday morning by District Judge Cheryl Yakopec and sent to the Westmoreland County jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Longfellow Street for a reported sexual assault around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to court documents, the victim said she had been separated from McKendree for three years.

She said McKendree called her and told her he needed to talk with her.

Moments later — while they were still on the phone — he was at her front door.

The woman told police that Mc­Kendree entered her apartment and dragged her to the bedroom, telling her he wanted to have sex. She yelled “no” several times, told Mc­Kendree what he was doing was wrong and tried unsuccessfully to get away.

Afterward, McKendree allegedly said he was going to beat up the woman's new boyfriend and left her apartment. The woman called police and an ambulance, and was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital in Harrison.

Officers met with McKendree about 10:30 p.m., and he came to the police station.

According to police, McKendree told them he called the woman and said he wanted to come to her apartment to talk. He allegedly admitted walking into the woman's apartment without knocking or asking to come in, grabbing the woman and taking her to a bedroom.

Police say McKendree admitted having sex with the woman, and said he felt guilty and upset and ran out of the apartment because he didn't want to get in trouble.

A preliminary hearing before Yakopec was scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Jan. 29.
