A Berks County man died in a head-on collision on Route 422 in Plumcreek Township on Saturday morning.

State police at Kittanning identified the victim as Tyler James Kulp, 27, of Laureldale, just north of Reading.

Police said the wreck occurred about 9:30 a.m., near the 6/10 mile marker southeast of Elderton near Route 210.

Police said Stephen Paul Caulfield, no age available, of Waterford, Erie County, was driving eastbound in a 1998 Toyota Camry when he swerved into the westbound lane and collided with Kulp's 1995 Ford Escort station wagon. Kulp was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Armstrong County Coroner's office said an autopsy was to be performed Saturday afternoon, however, no information was available as of 6:30 p.m.

Caulfield was uninjured, police said, adding that the investigation is continuing.
