Where to catch a fish fry in the area during Lent
Many local churches and charitable organizations are holding fish frys on Fridays during Lent.
Here are some local fish frys:
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
A fish fry will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Carnegie on all Fridays in Lent. The hours will be from 11:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. in St. Luke Hall, 330 Third Ave.
Dinners range in price from $6 to $7.75. Fried or baked fish sandwiches are $5.75. The menu also includes crab cakes, shrimp basket, homemade cabbage/noodles, homemade pierogies, macaroni and cheese, french fries, coleslaw, clam chowder, potato soup, stewed tomatoes and desserts.
Eat in or takeout is available. Call 412-276-1011, ext. 220, for takeout between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
St. Philip Roman Catholic Church in Crafton will host fish frys every Friday during Lent, including Good Friday, at the school cafeteria at 50 West Crafton Ave. Hours will be from 4:30-7 p.m.
Eat-in or takeout options are available. Call 412-928-2742, ext. 9, for takeout.
The cost for a dinner including a fish sandwich, fries or salad and coleslaw will be $8.50.
Our Lady of Grace
The fish fry at Our Lady of Grace in Scott Township is held Fridays during Lent, including Good Friday, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., at 310 Kane Blvd. Good Friday hours are 3 to 7 p.m.
The cost is $9.50 for adult dinner, $9 for seniors and kids and $11.50 for seafood platter.

A fish fry will be held every Friday in Lent, including Good Friday, at the Heidelberg Volunteer Fire Department, 456 First St. Regular hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Good Friday hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Eat-in and takeout dinners are available.
The menu includes hand-breaded cod, shrimp, crab cakes, french fries, haluski, coleslaw and macaroni and cheese.
The Good Friday menu will include homemade pierogies, which can also be pre-ordered at 412-722-6314.
The Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 32, will host a fish fry from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays throughout Lent at the Ukrainian-American Citizens Club, 302 Mansfield Blvd., Carnegie. Dates are Feb. 15, 22, March 1, 8, 15 and 22.
Use the main entrance on adjacent Walnut Street.
Returning is shrimp bisque, which is catered by Calabria's Restaurant. New in 2013 are baked fish and baked potatoes.
Other options include fried fish sandwiches, french fries, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, haluski and Irish nachos.
Eat-in and takeout is available. No phone orders will be accepted.
The fish fry will be held every Friday of Lent, including Good Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria, 220 Station St.
Note: Special beer-battered fish on Feb. 22 and March 15. Dinners are $9 for adults and $5.50 for kids and include two sides.

The Presto Volunteer Fire Department, 5228 Thoms Run Road in Collier, will hold a fish fry on Feb. 22, March 8 and March 22 from 3:30 to 7 p.m.

The Rennerdale Volunteer Fire Department, 30 Suburban Ave., will hold fish frys on Feb. 15, Feb. 29 and March 15 from 3 to 8 p.m.
