A portion of the ramp from southbound Interstate 79 to Route 228 in Cranberry will be closed for at least a month, resulting in new traffic patterns that could cause traffic delays.

Those exiting Interstate 79 will turn right at a red light at the end of the ramp onto Route 228 instead of merging with traffic, according to PennDOT officials.

Truck drivers are encouraged to take the Evans City exit on Interstate 79, exit 85, and then travel south on Route 19 to Cranberry to avoid the right turn.

The work is part of a larger project to add ramps leading from westbound Route 228 to I-79, to alleviate traffic on Route 228.

It is scheduled to be completed in 2014.
