Sharpsburg officials voted unanimously to accept a $12,500 bid from State Pipe Services Inc. to clean the inside of water tank in the borough.
Borough engineer Robert Zischkau said the work should take about two days to complete.
Officials also received bids for painting needed at the water tower but will wait to award that contract.
Cleanup day
Volunteers from the University of Pittsburgh will team with residents for a cleanup day on Oct. 20 in Sharpsburg beginning at 9 a.m.
The event is part of the school's Make A Difference Day.

Bridge St. repairs
Sharpsburg and Etna will split the cost for repairs on Bridge Street.
Councilman Lou DeLuca said the cost will be less than $1,000 and the borough's share should be about $500.
He said work is needed on the road. Officials approved the project by a 6-1 vote. Councilman Anthony Sacco was opposed.
“It's in dire need of repair,” DeLuca said.
Crews will make hot patch repairs to the road. DeLuca said Etna's public works crews will handle the work.
