Investigators last week added a theft charge against a former Sharpsburg Recreation Committee president accused of having sex with a 15-year-old boy.

Susan M. Sundo, 45, of Sharpsburg was arraigned on March 27 on the new charge before her preliminary hearing on charges of corruption of minors, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and unlawful contact with a minor.

District Judge Elissa Lang ordered Sundo to stand trial on those charges. The boy testified that they had sex seven times beginning in the summer of 2012.

The theft charge involves a debit card issued to her by the Aspinwall Youth Athletic Association, a youth baseball and softball organization. Its members notified police on Feb. 20 that someone made unauthorized transactions on the card issued to Sundo.

She was to use the card only for the concession stand at youth softball and baseball games. An audit of the account by the bank showed $4,886 was charged to the card.

Sundo did not comment as she left court.

“She's trying to spend as much time as she can with her children,” said her attorney, David Joel Shrager.

Sundo was removed as head of the Sharpsburg Recreation Committee after police filed the sex charges in January.

Among the charges to the account listed in the new criminal complaint are a wire transfer through a Western Union auto payment account for $1,508, a charge to Verizon Wireless in the amount of $588 and one to Duquesne Light for $643. The audit also showed checks cashed for $130, $150 and $70.

A representative from the youth association could not be reached for comment.

Sundo's preliminary hearing on the theft charge was set for April 3. It was then continued until June 12.

Shrager described her as a trusted and well-liked member of the association.
