'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

There are two new faces on the Fox Chapel Area School Board.

Lisa Rutkowski and Somer Obernauer Jr. were appointed Saturday during a special session to fill the unexpired terms of Robin Baum and Sherman Snyder, each who resigned in March due to personal reasons.

Rutkowski, a real estate agent with Howard Hanna, has lived in the district for eight years.

Obernauer is the owner of some Allstate insurance agencies and has been a district resident for 30 years.

Both will represent Region I of the school district, which includes all of Sharpsburg and Wards 2, 3, and 4 of O'Hara Township. Both of their terms will run through December 2015.

“The School Board was very fortunate to have three candidates who were highly qualified for the two open positions and we truly value each candidate's strengths,” Board President Nancy Foster said.
