Westmoreland County Community College will offer a winter session of credit classes, starting Dec. 13 at the Youngwood campus.

The session is open to current college students who need to bring up their grades before the start of the spring term or want to earn college credit in a condensed format.

The three-credit classes include Microcomputer Concepts and Interpersonal Communication, which will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Classes will meet for 11 weekdays and will conclude Jan. 2, 2013. Students must be registered before classes begin.

Payment is due at the time of registration.

Tuition is $90 per credit for county residents, $180 per credit for residents of other Pennsylvania counties, and $270 per credit for out-of-state students.

Financial aid is not available. To register or for more information, call WCCC at 1-800-262-2103, ext. 4204.

Trail gets funding

Westmoreland County has received a $177,000 grant from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to develop the Little Crabtree Creek Trail, a 1.2-mile recreational trail to connect the intersection of the Bovard-Luxor Road to Twin Lakes Park, which straddles Hempfield and Unity townships.

The grant will help to pay for trail construction, making it accessible to the physically handicapped, landscaping, signs and other site improvements.
