Complicated gun laws explained in free seminar in Hempfield
Gun safety and rights will be the topic at a popular free seminar next month in Hempfield.
The session, hosted by State Rep. Tim Krieger, R-Delmont, has drawn a lot of interest in the past.
“People ask about it all the time,” Krieger said. “I think the laws are more complicated than most people know.”
The seminar will feature the expertise and knowledge of Greensburg attorney Ed Bilik and Kim Stolfer, National Rifle Association certified training counselor, chief instructor and chief range safety officer. A question-and-answer session will be held during the two-hour educational seminar.
Bilik said he plans to explain gun regulations at both the state and federal levels and the differences between the two.
“We see a lot of people get in trouble with them,” he said.
Other topics will be related to the lawful purchase and ownership of a firearm and traveling with a gun between states. Bilik said he plans to explain Pennsylvania's open carry laws and how to properly follow them.
“It is certainly an issue which is in the news a lot,” he said. “My role is to explain what can be very, very complicated gun laws.”
Plus, Bilik said he will discuss how a situation involving police can change when a civilian is legally carrying a firearm.
Krieger said seating is limited and pre-registration with his office is recommended.
