Christian Fellowship Academy on Ridge Road in Jeannette is a place where children can receive a Christ-centered education and use the most up-to-date technology possible.

In order to provide that education, the school holds various fundraisers and the biggest event of the year will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Delmont Fire Hall.

The annual auction, now in its third consecutive year, begins with a preview of auction items at 9 a.m. Refreshments will be made available by the Delmont Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Admission is free and there will be door prizes in addition to Chinese, live and silent auctions. Dale Reed, an auctioneer, will guide the bidding.

The event will feature various baskets sponsored by businesses and by various groups at Living Word Congregational Church, which houses the school. Auction items include Steeler and Penguins game tickets, a color television and an iPad.

There are getaway packages for weekend trips around the Pittsburgh area. There are many gift certificates for local museums, restaurants, gyms and other local businesses.

Maggie James, church financial secretary and computer teacher at the school, is leading the auction efforts. She said more than 150 businesses have stepped up to support the auction this year.

“Everything has been donated this year,” James said. “The cost of the fire hall rental, the advertising, the door prizes, everything. The goal is a $0 budget.”

The goal for fundraising is something James leaves up to God.

“Whatever he provides, that is our goal. He will provide what we need,” James said.

The money raised will go toward updated technology, scholarships and operating expenses for the academy.

The first 200 people who arrive Saturday will be given a bag of giveaway items including coupons for free fast food.

“We didn't want to make it all about taking. We wanted to give back to the community as well,” James said.

Delmont Fire Hall is at 2360 Route 66 in Delmont. Visit www.cfcfa.org for a list of auction items.
